This it the last Calvin and Hobbes comic strip that was published on December 31, 1995. It snowed over night and “everything familiar has disappeared”. “It’s like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on!”
Is the world you see with your eyes, head and heart worthy of exploration? Or have you just decided you know what you know….and there’s nothing more to learn? It ALL depends on your perspective.
The last 10 months have certainly been…..(fill in the blank with your own adjective). I think it’s been: challenging, unusual, stressful, confusing, difficult and unpredictable. We have also been unprecedented opportunities to learn new things, spend more time with family and we’ve had more time for self-care. Molting lobsters teach us a great lesson. The stimulus for a lobster to prepare to molt is the discomfort it feels being confined to a rigid shell. It can only grow into something new by being uncomfortable and shedding the old shell.
We’ve been forced into being uncomfortable. Discomfort is where the most growth happens. Look at the recent changes in our world as opportunities for growth – even if it’s just a tiny bit and “let’s go exploring” in 2021!
